What is Sulfite Allergies?

In order to understand what sulfite allergies are you must know about sulfate agents. They are preservatives used in a variety of food items plus medications. It's very common for people to use them. People can be allergies to these preservatives and that's when the doctor says you have sulfite allergies.

The good news is people who have never had problems with sulfite allergies usually won't. Ones who suddenly develop it when they are older get allergic reactions from medications that might have been inhaled or either intravenous drugs. When this happens you can experience hives and possible flushing.

There are some food items that contain sulfites such as:

- Dried fruits
- Wine
- Bottled non-frozen lemon juice
- Molasses
- Bottled non-frozen lime juice
- Sauerkraut
- Pickled cocktail onions
- Grape juices

Scientists and doctors are still trying to figure out why some people suffer with suflites and others don't. The cause remains unknown but they are working everyday to try and help patients that suffer with them be able to have some relief.
