Why Do People Have Shellfish Allergies?

People might have many sorts of allergies. Shellfish allergy is one of those allergies, which is quite popular nowadays. People who have this allergy because are unable to intake some food such as clams, shrimp, lobster, squid and octopus etc, which are nothing but the marine or shellfish animals. The severity of the shellfish symptoms that occur, differ according to each individual. Well, this type of allergy is basically caused by two types of food i.e. crustaceans and mollusks. Crustaceans are such as crabs, lobster, shrimp etc and mollusks are such as oysters, mussels, clams etc. It is good for those suffering from shellfish allergies to avoid shellfish foods.

Recently, some researches were exclusively carried out on shellfish allergies, which have proved that adults are mostly affected by this type of allergy. In fact, many American adults are suffering from this type of allergy. In some cases, the intake of just a minute shellfish food particle has caused shellfish allergy. It is noticed that most of shellfish animals are rich in iodine and hence, it could increase the severity of iodine allergies as well. It is good to see that there is a wide range of medications available for shellfish allergies.
