When You Should Have A Rast Test

When you are having allergies a lot the doctor might ask for a RAST test to be done also known as a radioallergosorbent test. The RAST tests cost more then food challenges but they are a great way to find out what kind of food allergies you have.

Doctors usually only suggest a RAST test when you've had a severe reaction to something when you've just had food or when other rashes might appear on your skin. They are not time consuming like the other tests could be.  Sometimes you can use RAST test to find out things that prick tests you couldn't. With the cost of RAST test it's not as popular as a prick test. The doctors give these out very carefully and they go over the cost and make sure that you understand everything that is going on.

After the RAST test is done you will be able to find out what food it is you're allergic to. If you are not allergic to anything then the doctor might try and see what else he/she can find. Almost anyone can take a RAST test. You should tell your doctor if you’re pregnant or if you're feeling in a certain way before the test. A lot of people who want to know their test results fast really like taking the RAST test because with the prick test, you might be waiting awhile longer.
