What is an allergy to mold?

No matter where it is that you may choose to go, it is practically impossible to keep yourself completely safe and tucked away from various items and surroundings that can expose you to the organism that is commonly known as mold. Mold can be found inside homes and businesses, and it can be found in numerous places outside as well. Its job is to latch onto material that is dead and then nutrients are then put back into the environment. Very small spores are released into the air as growing mold works away at digesting things such as paper, animals, plants, dirt, food, paper, and wood. Some key areas where mold can generally be found would include dark and moist areas, basements, large areas of rotting leaves, and trash cans. When food items that contain mold are consumed or spores that have been released by this fungus have been breathed in, they can then cause an allergic reaction. Such a reaction can cause an individual to experience hives or a rash, a runny or stuffy nose, wheezy breathing, and watery itchy eyes.
