Allergies and Sinusitis

Individuals who suffer from the condition that is known as sinusitis will often experience bothersome symptoms that include swelling or inflammation that attacks the sinuses, and more particularly the tissue that lines them. When sinusitis strikes, it is a problem that can then fill the sinuses and cause blockage of the space that should otherwise be filled with air, with germs and fluid that can easily turn into fungi, viruses, and bacteria. When these are allowed to grow in the sinuses, the individual will more than likely end up with an infection. Allergic rhinitis, which causes the nose lining to become swelled, the common cold, a deviated septum, which is a shift that has occurred in the nasal cavity, and polyps, which are tiny growths that occur in the nose lining are generally the types of conditions that can end up causing a blockage in the sinuses and result in an individual who suffers from the symptoms of sinusitis. Both adults and children can suffer from sinusitis and there are three known types of this condition that can occur. These would include acute sinusitis, subacute sinusitis, and recurrent sinusitis.
